エプソン、究極の黒を実現する有機発光ダイオードディスプレイ
エプソンは究極の黒を実現する有機発光ダイオードディスプレイを開発したと発表した。この技術では従来のフラットパネルディスプレイでは不可能な高度なイメージ表現が可能となり、視野角や応答時間も飛躍的に高まるという。有機発光ダイオードディスプレイの最大の問題点であった寿命の問題は発光体の材料を改良することで解決、5万時間以上の寿命に成功し、実用化のための準備に入ったという。１０月２４日からパシフィコ横浜で開かれるディスプレイ技術万博でこのシステムを展示する予定。イメージ写真をみるに、モニタという感じがしない薄型ディスプレイでインテリアにも「究極の黒」は映えそうだ。
